Official Contest Rules

1. This contest runs from July 3, 2007 to September 30, 2007. To be eligible to win, entrants must submit their name, e-mail address, and mailing address by e-mail or snail-mail on or before the entry deadline: September 30, 2007, 11:59 A.M., Pacific Time. Hailey Lind, Lindstrom Literary Management LLC, and the Art Lover’s Mystery Series (Sponsor) may use the e-mail address or phone for purposes of prize notification. E-mail addresses may be used for sending news related to the Art Lover’s Mystery Series. Any entries received by us after the deadline will be ineligible to win. LIMIT ONE ENTRY PER PERSON AND E-MAIL ADDRESS. NO AUTOMATED ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED AND ARE EXPRESSLY PROHIBITED. Multiple entries from the same person and/or e-mail address are void. Sponsor is not responsible for entries that are late, misdirected, lost, garbled, or unintelligible, including those due to computer or network malfunction or congestion, and any such entries are ineligible.

2. One (1) Prize will be awarded: The Prize consists of a portrait painted in oil upon canvas, 18x24 inches or smaller, in a style to be determined by the artist Julie Goodson-Lawes in consultation with the winner. The subject of the portrait is the choice of the winner. RIGHT TO THE FINAL DECISIONS REGARDING STYLE AND COMPOSITION IS RESERVED BY THE ARTIST JULIE GOODSON-LAWES. Winner will provide Julie Goodson-Lawes with photographs of the subject for purposes of the painting. The portrait will take up to six (6) months to complete, depending entirely upon the artist’s schedule. Portrait prize does not include framing. Estimated value of The Prize: Approximately $2,500.00. No transfer or substitution of the prize will be permitted.

3. On October 15, 2007 one (1) winner will be chosen in a random drawing conducted by Sponsor from all eligible and completed entries received by the entry deadline. The winners will be notified by e-mail, standard mail, or phone. If a winner does not respond with 15 days of winning notification, an alternate winner will be selected. Odds of winning depend upon the number of eligible entries received.

4. NO PURCHASE IS REQUIRED TO ENTER OR TO WIN. This contest is only open to residents of the United States (excluding Puerto Rico) and Canada who are 18 years of age or older. This contest is subject to all federal, state, and local regulations. Offer void in Puerto Rico and where otherwise restricted or prohibited. All federal and local taxes, if any, are the sole responsibility of the prize winner(s). Employees of Penguin Putnam and its subsidiaries are not eligible to enter.

5. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify entries from anyone tampering with the entry process. If, for any reason, the contest or any contest is not capable of running as planned by reason of damage by computer virus, worms, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, technical limitations or failures, or any other causes which, in the sole opinion of the Sponsor, could compromise, undermine or otherwise affect the Official Rules, administration, security, fairness or proper conduct of the drawing, Sponsor reserves the right and absolute discretion to modify these Official Rules and/or to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the drawing. In the event of termination or cancellation, the winner(s) will be selected from all eligible entries received before the time of termination. Sponsor assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft, destruction, or unauthorized access to the site. Sponsor is not responsible for injury or damage to entrants’ or to any other person's computer, other equipment, or person relating to or resulting from participation in the drawing, the portrait process, or from downloading materials or accessing the site.

6. Sponsor reserves the right to use the contest winner’s name, the image of the prize portrait, and a photograph of the winner with the portrait for publicity purposes subsequent to the completion of the contest.
